You are my sunshine | Prior Lake, MN family photographer

You are my sunshine,

My only sunshine.

You make me happy,

when skies are gray.....

Just a week ago I met this little lady on a rainy Sunday morning.  She recently became a big sister to her little sister Lila.  Her little sister was long awaited.  Everyone was very patient, but also anxious for her arrival.  She threw her mama a curve ball with some of her pregnancy shenanigans.  So I know she is a treasure to all who know and love her already.

One of my favorite things about at home newborn sessions is the relaxed atmosphere that offers up incredible sibling shot opportunities.

And just when big sis is starting to ponder the photo session thing and is growing tired.....she can go off with dad and take a break!

And then mom and I can focus on capturing some of just Miss Lila and her mom.  Each home offers up unique lighting and spaces to capture these first days of life moments.  But all of them are natural and authentic, in mom or dad's arms.  The backdrop baby's nursery or home.  All things you will look back on someday and relish.

An at home session lasts 2-3 hours because while mama takes a break to feed and/or change baby....I spend a little time with big sis. Letting her show me her special space, toys, or tricks.  Miss C showed me her room, played hide and seek, danced, read a book with dad, and looked at her baby picture book.

Then everyone can come together for a few as a whole crew!  The new normal in this house!

And though the dads are never that thrilled for these photo sessions...the pictures captured of dad are always the ones that tug at your heart!

Once again, I just fall in love with these people who let me into their lives for a few hours.  They share their space.  They share their stories.  Their children open up and giggle and laugh.  And then I spend hours gazing at their pictures and get so excited to share them with the family.

Kelly and Brent you have two magical little ladies to love up!  I don't doubt they will cause some drama down the line....but, goodness are they adorable and such gifts to each other.  Treasure them!  Thank you for letting me capture your family of three turn into four.

Just. like. that.
