I got to kick off the new year with my first official newborn shoot. The beautiful Miss Amelia was a wee 8 days old when I met her and her lovely family. She has two big brothers that were glad to get close to their dear little sis.
Photographing a newborn was something I wasn't sure I was even really interested in taking on. I have friends who do it and do it so well. Without actual hands on experience you can't learn it. My love of photography though, is about capturing feelings, moments, and love. And newborns just exemplify and bring out those things so naturally.
So newborn photography is something I definitely want to continue doing. A newborn session with me will mean the new mama and papa get to stay cozy at home in their most comfortable space. I will come to you and find the amazing light in your home. We can do some posed shots like the first picture up top. But mostly, I will just be a part of your family for our session - capturing the love.
We will take our time, sessions can last up to three hours. Sessions are timed this way so baby can feed, rock, change, and mama can rest. While mama or papa and baby engage I will be snapping pictures...capturing all the little part of your wee one.
While diapers are changed, baby is fed, or mama has a snack ...I love to spend a little time with the big brothers. Checking out their cool toys and capturing them in their own extraordinary moment.
Whatever your hopes and dreams are for your newborns photo session, know that when you pick Sarah Ann Photography, you will have a photographer who has experienced loving up a newborn three times in her own personal life. I know how quickly this curled up snuggly stage lasts. Soon they stretch and wake and find their voice.
Thank you Sarah and Adam (and boys) for choosing me to capture your lovely little girl. You have a beautiful family and I was so honored to feel part of it as we kicked off 2014! I look forward to watching her grow!
